I chose Kaiser Permanente over continuing in academic surgery because I believe Kaiser Permanente has a superior health care system. We’re free to be doctors.
My main areas of interest and research are tracheal surgery, minimally invasive lung cancer, and esophageal cancer surgery. At Harvard, I spent five years on staff as an Instructor in Thoracic Surgery.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2007.
I was born and raised in Anderson Valley, California. I’m the second generation to a Swiss-German mother and an Albanian father, both who work as high school teachers. I met my wife at Harvard Medical School where she was my classmate. After spending 19 years in Boston, I was finally able to convince my wife, an East Coast native, to relocate to my home region of Northern California.
